An Unmarked Danforth Mold Connecticut Pint Pewter Mug - SOLD

An Unmarked Danforth Mold Connecticut Pint Pewter Mug

Unmarked Connecticut pint pewter mug by the Danforths. This pint mug was made either by the Middletown Danforths or Possibly by Samuel Danforth of Harford. It is known that both the body and handle molds were used in both cities.

This is quite certain to be of 18th century manufacture. The mug has a plain taper sided drum with no fillet. The ball terminal handle is one of several molds that the Danforths used. Jacob Whitmore jointly shared some molds with Thomas Danforth II and later with Danforth’s sons. I am not aware of any Whitmore mugs utilizing this particular handle mold..

The mug is in very good plus condition. It measures 4 7/16” tall to the lip of the rim. The top diameter is 3 3/8” and the bottom diameter is 3 7/8”. A nice example of an unmarked Connecticut mug.
