An Unmarked American Gill Mug from the Danforth Boardman Molds - SOLD

An Unmarked American Gill Mug from the Danforth Boardman Molds

An unmarked gill Danforth mold mug. Examples marked by Samuel Danforth of Hartford are known and are extremely rare. After Samuel this mold most certainly went to Thomas Danforth Boardman as a few marked examples by him are also known. This example is unmarked and certainly could be by either man.

Of interest is the handles on these are “burnt on” meaning they are cast in place in the same manner as porringer handles (ears).

This mug measures 2 5/8” to the lip. It is in very good plus condition showing signs of use. There are some light pits on the inside bottom. An attractive small mug not often encountered.
