Although there is only a portion of the border of the touch remaining enough is present to positively identify this mug as being by Edward Danforth of Hartford, Connecticut 1786-1800. This mug has a ball terminal handle of a design that appears to be unique to Edward. I am not familiar with any mugs by other Danforth family members using this particular handle.
Other than the well-worn touch this mug is in very good condition. It measures 4 7/16” tall to the top of the lip. As scarce late 18th century Connecticut mug.
