A very scarce taster porringer by either Richard Lee Sr. or Jr. Springfield, VT 1795-1820. The Sr. Lee worked in other locations however, if this was made by him it would have been after he moved to Vermont. This porringer bears the very scarce “stag head” touch. With R. Lee below. The stag motif was employed on some early Vermont flags and was also employed on state military buttons well into the 19th century. In the fifty plus years I have been in business I have only had two Lee pieces with the stag touch.
This porringer bowl measures 2 5/16””. It is in very good plus condition with a fine “as struck” touch.
