A Mint Condition Small Size "SG" Pewter Porringer - SOLD

A Mint Condition Small Size

New England Crown or Coronet “SG” eared porringer. There were numbers of different initialed porringers made in Boston during the 18th into the 19th Century. This is the smaller size of “SG” porringers. The bowl measures 4 9/16” in diameter and the overall length is 6 5/8”.

The molds for this porringer originated during the 18th century and was used into the 19th century. In my opinion these can frequently be distinguished by the presence of a cut trough into the well surrounding the boss. This is found on the earlier examples. This porringer lacks this trough and in my opinion dates from the early 19th century. This piece in essentially in mint condition.
