An Unmarked 18th Century Danforth Flower Handle Porringer - SOLD
This unmarked 18th century flower handle porringer was made in the molds used by Thomas Danforth II and Thomas Danforth III. Several examples exist by Ashbil Griswold of Meriden.
The fact that the handle on this example has been planished (hammered) indicates that this was made during the 18th century. The practice of planishing handles was discontinued by the beginning of the 19th.
This flower handle design is also distinguished by the two round apertures in the design that are not found on other flower handles.
The bowl measures 5" in diameter and the porringer is 7 3/8" in overall length. In near fine condition.
