A T.D. Boardman Crown Handle Pewter Porringer - SOLD
Thomas D. Boardman's career began after he had completed his apprenticeship training first with his uncle Edward until 1799 and finishing up with his uncle Samuel in 1804.
This Crown Handle Porringer is marked with one of his earliest touches. The beaded border "waisted" oval eagle touch. This touch was of the same design as a touch used by his uncle Edward with the use of the American Eagle in place of the "English Rampant Lion" that his uncle had used.
It is likely that the die for this touch was created sometime around 1804. The majority of marked Boardman Crown Handle Porringers are struck with the TD & SB touch of his partnership with his brother Sherman. There are a number found marked with the small Boardman & Co Eagle touch. This touch is rarely encountered.
The porringer is in fine condition with a mint "as struck" touchmark. The bowl measures 5" in diameter
