An Antique American Old English Handle Pewter Porringer by Samuel Danforth - SOLD
This old English Handle pewter porringer was made by Samuel Danforth, son of Thomas Danforth II. Samuel received his training in Middletown under the tutelage of his brothers. The apprenticeship likely began with Joseph, followed by Jonathan and finally finishing with William.
He located his business in Hartford where he had moved in 1795. He remained in business until 1816 when he passed at the age of 42.
He was very successful and produced a wide range of pewter items of fine quality.
This porringer is in very good condition. The handle had been overly polished over the years wearing down the touch.
Priced accordingly.
