A George Richardson Sugar Bowl - SOLD
J. B. Kerfoot in his book American Pewter enshrined in the frontispiece of this publication George Richardson’s iconic sugar bowl. The notoriety caused by this publication made this 19th century sugar bowl the most highly sought-after sugar bowl of that period by the collecting public.
An attractive squat design these bowls frequently are marked, as is this example, with a large number of Richardson’s touches. The bowl measures 5 1/8” to the top of the finial. The bowl design incorporates a teapot body for the bowl and a teapot lid for the lid. 2 “C” shaped handles are attached to the side of the body.
This example is in very good plus condition. The touches are in very fine condition. There is some light pitting in one area on the inside of the body. A desirable form still sought by collectors. (ON HOLD)
