A 7 7/8" Single Reed Rim Pewter Plate by William Billings

A 7 7/8” single reed rim pewter plate by William Billings, Providence Rhode Island 1791-1806. This plate has a single strike of Billing’s banner touch. There are examples known with three impressions of this mark.

He also produced dishes and basins along with several different sizes of porringers as well as mugs.

This plate is in very good plus condition. There is some scattered light shallow pitting on the surface and reverse of rim.

The touch is fine “as struck”. There also are the initials B+W carefully engraved on the back of the rim.
