8" Pewter Basin by Thomas Danforth Boardman
An 8” Pewter basin by Thomas Danforth Boardman marked with his waisted beaded oval eagle touch which was inspired by his uncle Edward’s waisted beaded oval rampant lion touch. Thomas served a portion of his apprenticeship with Edward. He finished his apprenticeship under the tutelage with his uncle Samuel.
Thomas worked in Hartford with many different partners including his brother Sherman. I believe this is one of his earliest touchmqrks and certainly would date this as dating from 1804-20’s
The basin is in good condition with some sporadic areas of etching. The lathe marks on the back are clear and sharp. The touch if very fine “as struck” meaning this is all that was impressed and it shows no wear. Very reasonably priced.
Price: $135
