A Pewter Plate by Thomas Danforth II with Hammered Booge - SOLD
7 15/16” single reed rim plate by Thomas Danforth II with hammered bouge. Thomas Danforth II produced pewter in Middletown, Connecticut from 1755 until his untimely death in 1782, during his earlier years he produced sadware (flatware) with hammered booges. Plates and dishes by Thomas Danforth II with hammered booges are rarely found. This example is in very good condition with fine touches. It is important to note that over time his hallmarks received various damages. The hallmarks on this plate have only the first of these “mishaps” a slight nick in front of the leopard’s mouth (second hallmark).
