Pewter Plate by Edward Danforth - SOLD
Edward Danforth was the third son of Thomas Danforth II. Edward moved to Hartford to set up business. He was active from 1786 until 1800. He helped train his nephew, Thomas D. Boardman.
This 7 15/16” plate is in fine condition and shows only a very few blemishes on the face of the plate. The are a couple of small areas of light pits on the back of the rim. The touchmarks are as fine as any we have seen over the years, with two impressions of his rampant lion in oval touch along with his hallmarks.
A fine example of Edward’s work
