During the last years of the Civil War the Government let out huge contracts for the production of Arms and Accoutrements for the various branches of the armed services.
This pattern 64 Box was produced by W. H. Wilkinson of Springfield, MA under contract. This box was inspected by G.T. Woodbury
The box tab is intact, these are frequently broken and retains the original interior tins. The box measures 8 1/8” across at the US in oval.
