This Private Purchase Civil War Tin Cup is of a type found during excavations of camp sites. Not all units were issues "regulation" type cups and there are numbers of varieties that are found.
Photos of soldiers are also helpful in determining what items soldiers carried with them. The photo below clearly shows a ribbed cup!
The cup is in fine condition retaining a good deal of the bright tin plating. It is 4 1/4" in diameter and 2 3/4" tall.
