Eben Smith worked in the same building as Israel Trask. Smith’s working dates are 1814-56. During this time he produced a wide variety of forms including different styles of tea and coffeepots, flagon, lamps and candlesticks.
This flagon measures 10 ¾”tall to the top of the finial, it employs a coffeepot body with a flagon spout rather than a coffeepot spout. The handle is finely finished unlike those on coffeepots that were not finished smooth where they are painted black.
This piece is marked on the inside bottom, Smith is known to have marked his pieces sometimes on the inside and sometimes on the outside. This flagon is in fine condition with a fine touch.
