Israel Trask worked in Beverly, Massachusetts from 1813 to around 1856. It is known that he received training as a silversmith however, he became a very successful Pewterer.
This chalice is entirely made of cast metal. The design is of a "thistle" form and is very pleasing in the balance of the design. The lathe work is excellent as is the metal. A good deal of Trask's production used metal with a very high tin content. This chalice appears to be made from that type of alloy.
The metal is in very good plus condition with a fine touchmark on the bottom. The chalice measures 5 11/16" tall.
