An Unmarked Pewter Flagon by Leonard, Reed, and Barton
This unmarked flagon is attributed with confidence to Leonard, Reed, and Barton or Reed and Barton of Taunton, MA. The attribution is based on the fact that identical flagons are found with marked chalices and communion plates.
The Flagon is 10 1/4" to the top of the thumbpiece. The exterior metal is in very fine condition. The inside is nearly as fine with a small amount of etching on the interior bottom. The body lid and base are made from sheet metal. The handle and thumbpiece being cast.
The use of the double "C" scroll handle is very similar to flagons made by William Calder. A very attractive form dating from the middle third of the 19th century
