This quart tankard was made by Hale & Sons of Bristol, England 1778-1782. For years many collectors believed this maker was a different Hale namely Thomas Hale and Sons who worked from 1851-75. Those dates certainly were too late for the forms and designs used by these pewterers.
This tankard is in very good condition with some etching to the handle and few small areas on the body. The touch is fine "as struck" on the inside bottom of the body.
The tankard measures 8" tall to the top of the thumbpiece.
Lathe marks show clearly on the bottom to the base and inside of lid. An attractive late 18th century tankard reasonably priced
