A Crown or Coronet Handle Export Pewter Porringer by Robert Bush Sr.
Robert Bush, Sr had a rather extensive export business to the American Colonies, particularly in New England. His exports included plates dishes basins teapots mugs tankards as well as porringers. The quality of metal in his hollowware is excellent however much of his flatware was of a somewhat leady alloy. Bush worked in Bristol from 1755-1800.
This porringer has a 5 3/8” diameter bowl with a “Crown” or “Coronet” style ear “handle”. The surface of the handle has been planished flattening the bosses of the design. The touch is well struck in the center medallion.
The porringer is in near fine condition with an excellent linen mark. There is some light etching to the inside of the bowl.
