An Export English Pewter Teapot by Richard & Thomas Hale
Export Pewter Pear form teapot by Richard & Thomas Hale, Bristol, England 1783-1815. This teapot is one of the early production teapots as it has a wood handle most likely 18th century. Later production teapots by this firm have hollow cast pewter handles.
The pot measures 7” tall to the top of the finial. The touch is worn as apparently the bottom of the teapot was pushed outward and the area with the touch was down far enough to rub against any surface it was resting on.
This teapot is in very good plus condition inside and out. This appears to retain it’s original wood handle. Teapots of this era have double stepped high lids a design trait employed by other English pewterers and several Americans. This lid has a nicely beaded edge.
